After a lively start from the visitors, AC Milan grew steadily into the match, first coming close with two efforts from Leão that struck the woodwork in the 20th and 34th minute, before finally taking the lead deep into first-half stoppage time thanks to a sharp finish from Tomori that lit up San Siro. More than 75,000 fans were on their feet again less than ten minutes into the second half, when Díaz produced a brilliant solo moment. Intercepting a loose pass in midfield, the Rossoneri's no. 10 surged towards goal, skipping past Bonucci before beating Szczęsny. The scoreline remained unchanged in the closing stages, though Juventus tried to get back into the game through Milik and Kean, and AC Milan nearly added a third with Divock Origi. At full time, the celebrations belonged entirely to the Rossoneri: a long-awaited victory over Juventus at San Siro, achieved in front of a full home crowd for the first time in six years.
