Titans held virtual pre-draft meeting with surging HBCU cornerback

While time is flying by, with the NFL draft less than two weeks away, the weekends feel like they slow down and allow fans to regroup as draft information slows to a trickle.

That wasn’t quite the case on Saturday, when the identity of another potential draft target for the Tennessee Titans came to light. In an interview with Justin Melo of Sports Illustrated NFL Draft, South Carolina State cornerback Jarod Washington revealed he has completed a virtual Zoom meeting with the organization.

Washington is an intriguing FCS prospect who helped South Carolina State secure the HBCU National Championship and has the athleticism, size, and speed to potentially make the leap to the NFL. A productive boundary cornerback with some safety versatility, he made the most of his 2025 season, which was limited to five games, recording 36 total tackles, two interceptions, and an incredible 13 passes defensed, leading to East-West Shrine Bowl and HBCU Legacy Bowl invites.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound cornerback not only has solid tape, but his prototypical size and speed (4.42 40-yard dash), along with zone-ball-hawking skills, also make him an interesting Day 3 prospect who has caught the Titans' eye. The virtual meeting will likely mark at least the second time the Titans have interacted with Washington, after the team had a contingent at the HBCU Legacy Bowl (and likely the Shrine Bowl), although no contact has been verified.

Even after an active free agency period adding multiple cornerbacks, the Titans will likely add at least one during the draft, and Washington could be a late-round addition that could develop into a solid depth piece.
