Today in Boston Celtics history, Hall of Fame Celtics point guard Bob Cousy was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1971, alongside his longtime rival Bob Pettit of the then-St. Louis Hawks.
Initially drafted out of Holy Cross by the Tri-City Blackhawks in 1950, Cousy declined to play for the team and was subsequently picked up by the Boston Celtics. The New Yorker spent a total of 13 seasons with Boston, nearly the entirety of his NBA career (although he played seven games for the Cincinnati Royals during the 1969-70 season in a brief comeback attempt). During his time with the Celtics, he won eight championships and was selected for 13 NBA All-Star Games.

It is the birthday of Tracy Jackson, who was born this day in 1959 in Rockville, Maryland. He was picked out of Notre Dame by the Celtics with the 25th selection in the 1981 NBA draft. Despite being taken ahead of current Boston head honcho Danny Ainge (No. 31 overall), Jackson's Boston tenure was short. His contract was sold to the Chicago Bulls for cash considerations in December of his rookie season.
In his time with the Celtics, the Fighting Irish alum put up 2.4 points and 1.1 rebounds per game.
