Strange stat shows Yankees’ Ryan Weathers has the worst luck in New York right now
Ryan Weathers of the Yankees has not seen any runs scored in his four starts this season.
Todd McShay predicts the San Francisco 49ers will select offensive tackle Caleb Lomu with the No. 27 pick in the upcoming draft, addressing a future need at left tackle. This move is seen as a strategic plan to develop Lomu as a successor to Trent Williams, who will be 38 soon.
Where there's smoke, sometimes there's also a fire. And The Ringer's Todd McShay is the most recent draft expert to connect the San Francisco 49ers with an offensive lineman with the No. 27 pick. This is all despite reports that the 49ers will not address the offensive line in the first round.
He picked Utah offensive tackle Caleb Lomu with the 49ers' first-round pick as a successor to Trent Williams' role — either in 2026 or in the future.
This is a forward-thinking move for San Francisco. The 49ers would draft Lomu with the plan to develop him into the starting left tackle by 2027, as Trent Williams is set to turn 38 in a few months.
Lomu shows impressive natural instincts for the position, though he’s still relatively inexperienced, with just 24 starts (all at left tackle) over the past two seasons.
He’s a bit high-cut and could stand to add more bulk, but he’s a high-level athlete with the quickness, balance, and mirroring ability you look for at the position.
I don’t see him kicking inside to guard in 2026, but that’s up to Kyle Shanahan and his staff. Either way, this is good business. Draft, develop, and have your next left tackle ready to go on a rookie deal for four years.
While the 49ers have been widely connected to a receiver with their first-round pick, there weren't any left by the time the No. 27 pick came around in McShay's mock. Yes, six other receivers were drafted in the first 24 picks, which didn't leave anything for San Francisco late in the first round.
Now, could the 49ers trade up if this scenario unfolds? Potentially. But, as in this case, it makes more sense to take a future-looking move that would shore up the offensive line for quarterback Brock Purdy than to reach on a receiver or a different position in the first round.

Caleb Lomu is a Utah offensive tackle predicted to be drafted by the 49ers to eventually replace Trent Williams as left tackle, with plans for his development leading up to 2027.
Caleb Lomu has only 24 starts at left tackle over the past two seasons, which raises questions about his overall experience and readiness for the NFL.
The 49ers may not draft a receiver because six receivers were selected before their No. 27 pick, leaving them without viable options at that position.
