The San Francisco Giants will play a three-game series against the Cincinnati Reds starting Tuesday, with Game 1 at 6:40 p.m. EDT. On Thursday, former Vol Chase Burns will pitch for the Reds against his former coach, Tony Vitello, now managing the Giants.
San Francisco (6-10) will begin a three-game series at Cincinnati (9-7) on Tuesday.
Game 1 between the Giants and Reds on Tuesday is slated for 6:40 p.m. EDT at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, Ohio. Game 2 is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, while Thursdayâs series finale will take place at 12:40 p.m. EDT.
According to ESPNâs probable pitchers, former Vol Chase Burns (1-1) is scheduled to start for the Reds on Thursday.
He would face Tony Vitello, his former head coach at Tennessee. Vitello is in his first season as the Giantsâ manager after being at Tennessee from 2018-25.
Burns played for Vitello and the Vols from 2022-23 before transferring to Wake Forest in 2024. He was selected No. 2 overall in the first round of the 2024 MLB draft by Cincinnati.
Vitello compiled a 341â131 (125â85 SEC) record at Tennessee, guiding the Vols to a 2024 national championship, two SEC Tournament titles (2022, 2024), two SEC regular season championships (2022, 2024) and three College World Series appearances (2021, 2023-24).
