Mayweather-Pacquiao rematch off for Sept. 19 as Eagles concerts take over the Sphere
The San Francisco Giants and Milwaukee Brewers have called up top prospects to boost their rosters. The Giants aim to improve their struggling offense, while the Brewers seek to remain competitive in the NL Central.
Two MLB teams just made the same decision for two very different reasons – stop messing around and call up the prospect. Both the San Francisco Giants and Milwaukee Brewers promoted top prospects in the past few days, and both teams should receive immediate impact from the players. Milwaukee is looking to stay competitive in the NL Central, while the Giants are looking to add some thump to the league’s worst offense statistically.

The Giants promoted Bryce Eldridge, and the reason isn’t subtle – their offense has been embarrassing. Last in MLB in runs, home runs, walks, and just about every other offensive category. The current mix isn’t close. Not even. Devers is a historic slow starter, but the quality of his ABs doesn’t offer much promise. Casey Schmitt has spent time at 1B, and while his output isn’t terrible, it’s not quite the spark they need.
Enter Eldridge, a former first-round pick from the 2023 class who’s forced the issue down on the farm. He’s hitting .333 with a .963 OPS and five round-trippers. He debuted with a quiet line – 0-for-2 with a walk -, but the point is I expect him to be way better than that. San Francisco needs impact bats, and it needs them in the middle, not just solid at-bats (hello, Schmitt). He gives them a real power profile that will attack the zone and punish mistakes. I recently told my guy, Lou Landers on SiriusXM, that Eldridge has Nick Kurtz potential, and I’m in. Park factor aside, this is a guy who can do real damage.
The San Francisco Giants promoted Bryce Eldridge, while the Milwaukee Brewers also called up a top prospect to enhance their team.
The Giants promoted Bryce Eldridge to address their last-place ranking in several offensive categories, including runs and home runs.
Both teams expect immediate impact from their promoted prospects, with the Giants looking to revitalize their offense and the Brewers aiming to stay competitive in the NL Central.

The Brewers, on the other hand, did it from the opposite angle. They’re good, they’re contending, and they’re already leaning into the pipeline to stay on track. Milwaukee recalled Logan Henderson, their top pitching prospect and No. 6 overall prospect in the organization per MLB Pipeline. The farm line is loud – 2-0, 1.02 ERA, 26 strikeouts in 17 2/3 innings. The big-league résumé shows what he can be. Last season, he went 3-0 with a 1.78 ERA in five starts.
His first outing was pretty rough – two innings, two runs – but the Brewers are still giving him the ball again because they need innings and they trust the talent. Guess what? So do I. He’s earned it. The Brew Crew isn’t scared of the learning curve, and neither am I. He’s earned it.
One team is desperate for offense. One team is investing in October. Both are using the same solution. And the message to all MLB – if your prospects can play, stop delaying.
