Matteo Darmian has deflected questions about his future with characteristic professionalism, insisting his only focus is ending the season by lifting two trophies after Inter Milan’s 2-2 draw at Torino left the Scudetto just three points away.
The veteran defender spoke to Sky Sport after the final whistle, via FCInterNews, addressing the off-field noise surrounding the club before turning to the match and his own situation.

On the Scudetto situation, he acknowledged the frustration of dropping two points before refocusing quickly. “We were four points away before tonight and wanted to win but we didn’t manage it.
“However, only three points remain. We will try to bring them home in front of our own fans and reach a milestone as important as the Scudetto.”

“Last season was very positive but ended in the worst possible way. Starting again was not easy, especially psychologically. But the coach immediately understood what we needed. We have given our maximum and shown we are a great squad.”
On the links to a summer return to Torino, where he previously played, Darmian gave nothing away.
“I am not thinking about it. I want to close the season in the best possible way, celebrate the Scudetto when it is mathematical and try to win the Coppa Italia. The future is the last of my concerns.”
On his limited minutes this season following a lengthy injury, he was equally measured.
“I was injured for quite a long time. Since I returned I have been well. I have always tried to make myself available, and I have always respected the coach’s choices. You can be important even without playing every game. I put myself completely at his disposal.”
His closing words captured the essence of this Inter squad.
“We have shown we are strong, all together, starting from the coach. We put ourselves on the line and showed we are great men before great footballers. I have been at Inter for six years. There are happier and sadder moments, but we have always shown our face. That is the result.”
