Tottenham or Inter Milan? Former Antwerp star set to look for another new club after spells with RB Leipzig, Atletico Madrid and Marseille
Het Nieuwsblad have confirmed that Marseille are highly unlikely to sign Arthur Vermeeren permanently from RB Leipzig. The Ligue 1 side will not stump up the €20m to convert the midfielders loan spell into a permanent transfer. That was around the same price that both Atletico Madrid and RB Leipzig paid for him. The former did so after Vermeeren had broken through at Antwerp and looked set to go on to have a great career. However, he struggled in Madrid, with RB Leipzig then willing to bring him to Germany.
Now, it appears that RB Leipzig are not interested in keeping Vermeeren. At just 21-years-old, there is still plenty of time for the midfielder, who shone brightly with Antwerp and was a key player for them in winning their first league title in decades.
Two clubs have been mentioned, both at very opposite ends of their own domestic leagues. Tottenham are emrboiled in a relegation battle, but are one side said to be interested in Vemeeren. Whether or not this depends on if Tottenham can survive relegation remains to be seen, but playing in the Championship could help Vemeeren enjoy football again, as he should be more than good enough for that level.

Alongside Tottenham, the league leaders in Serie A are also said to be interested. Inter Milan are said to be monitoring the situation, which does seem slightly strange given his struggles at other top European clubs so far. If it came down to Tottenham or Inter Milan, on paper that Italians would win. However, Tottenham may give the midfielder more opportunities to play, either in the Premier League or int he Championship. Tottenham fans will be hoping it is the former and not the latter.
