Tracking the Colts' top-30 visits for the 2026 NFL draft

INDIANAPOLIS — With the NFL draft a little more than a week away, the Colts are still in the process of getting a good look at every player, hosting a handful of prospects in their final top-30 visits of the draft cycle this week.

Every NFL team is allowed to host 30 draft prospects at their facility for interviews, medical checks and other information-gathering purposes.

But the term "top-30 visit" is a bit of a misnomer. NFL teams typically do not use top-30 visits for the top 30 players on their draft board. These visits are reserved for players a team hasn't gotten a chance to interview yet, or a player the team wants to spend more time evaluating after initial interest.

The visits also are not the only time a team can thoroughly evaluate and interview a player. NFL teams, including the Colts, do similar work at the Senior Bowl, NFL scouting combine and Pro Days, as well as the team visiting players for private workouts during the draft process.

With that in mind, these are the 14 reported "top-30" visits. IndyStar has been able to confirm most with league sources, offering a look at the players who've made the trip to Indianapolis.

Payton's an intriguing small-school quarterback with dual-threat capability who would be a developmental piece, potentially sliding in behind Riley Leonard if the Colts are able to find a trade partner for Anthony Richardson.

Garrett Nussmeier, QB, LSU (NFL Network)

Nussmeier's a developmental quarterback who went through an injury-plagued season in 2025, leaving him unable to replicate the 4,000-yard season he produced in 2024.

Widely considered a potential second-round pick, Lawrence has the length (33 5/8-inch arms) and speed (4.52 seconds in the 40-yard dash) that Colts GM Chris Ballard has historically tried to find in defensive ends. Lawrence averaged 6.3 sacks in his final three college seasons, but he never had more than 7.5 in a season.

Height broke out with a 10-sack season for the Red Raiders after stints at Auburn, USC and Georgia Tech, but with a 6-3, 239-pound frame, he'd likely profile as a situational pass rusher early in his career, rather than an every-down starter.

Bernard, who is part of the NFL's International Player Pathway program, created a lot of buzz with an otherworldly workout for a player who weighs more than 300 pounds.

A developmental nose tackle who started for the Bulldogs in 2025, Miller would be considered a potential heir to Grover Stewart.

A likely Day 3 pick, Kuwatch was not invited to the Combine after one year as a starter, but he played well at the Shrine Bowl and ran a 4.62-second 40 at his Pro Day, making him an intriguing possibility for a Colts team that might draft multiple linebackers.

Jalon Kilgore, S, South Carolina (Essentially Sports' Tony Pauline)

A big-bodied safety at 6-1, 210 pounds, Kilgore profiles as a potential Nick Cross replacement at strong safety who has the speed and instincts to moonlight in other roles for Lou Anarumo's defense.
