The NFL trade landscape has seen a big shift less than a week from the draft, and the Pittsburgh Steelers need to be paying close attention.
According to Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard, former first-round quarterback Anthony Richardson isn't in attendance for the start of offseason training and has requested a trade, which could be great news for the Steelers.
Richardson, who was selected by the Colts with the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, showed flashes of greatness thanks to his dual-threat ability as a rushing quarterback with a cannon for an arm. But injuries derailed his debut season.
Infamously checking himself out of a game in 2024 due to fatigue and losing the starting quarterback opportunity to Daniel Jones in 2025, Richardson has been the subject of much criticism over the past few seasons. But if there's any coach that could unlock his hidden potential, it would be new Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy, one of the best quarterback developers of his generation.
