"We are overcome with emotion on the passing of Bobby Cox, our treasured skipper," a Braves statement read. "Bobby was the best manager to ever wear a Braves uniform. "And while Bobby's passion for the game was unparalleled, his love for baseball was exceeded only by his love for his family."
A true character of the game, Cox helped mold the long-suffering Braves franchise into a consistent contender, ushering in a new era. With cable television emerging in the 1980s, the Braves became an institution on TBS, starting at 7:05 p.m. ET.
