The Minnesota Twins have placed starting pitcher Taj Bradley on the 15-day injured list due to right pectoral muscle inflammation. This move comes as the team deals with multiple injuries to its rotation, including Joe Ryan and Mick Abel.
Fresh off the heels of an injury scare for Joe Ryan and news of a setback for starter Mick Abel, the Minnesota rotation was dealt another blow Saturday. The Twins placed starting pitcher Taj Bradley on the 15-day injured list with right pectoral muscle inflammation, a move that was retroactive to May 6.
Bradley has been the Twins’ top starter this season, going 4-1 through his first eight starts and compiling a 2.87 earned-run average while striking out 52 batters in 47 innings. His breakout has been among the most promising signs for the Twins.
The Twins are now down two of the five starters they began the season with as Abel was first placed on the injured list in April with elbow inflammation and more recently required a cortisone shot to address triceps soreness. They’re also missing Pablo López, who is out for the season, and David Festa, who felt renewed soreness recently from his shoulder injury.
Bradley, who gave up two runs in six innings against Washington earlier on the road trip, had been scheduled to start Sunday in the series finale in Cleveland.
To fill his roster spot, the Twins called up Travis Adams from Triple-A. Adams began the season on the injured list with a right triceps strain. In five outings for St. Paul — all out of the bullpen — he has given up six runs.
Adams debuted later last season, compiling a 7.49 ERA across 33 2/3 innings after primarily pitching on a set every-four-day schedule in the minor leagues.
Taj Bradley is on the injured list due to right pectoral muscle inflammation.
Before his injury, Taj Bradley had a record of 4-1 with a 2.87 earned-run average and 52 strikeouts in 47 innings.
