Michigan State basketball players Jaxon Kohler and Carson Cooper will participate in the Portsmouth Invitational, a key event for seniors to showcase their skills to NBA and Euroleague scouts. Their performances could lead to professional basketball opportunities, following the success of last year's participant, Jaden Akins.
Every year since 1953, the Portsmouth Invitational has been an opportunity for seniors to showcase their skills to NBA and Euroleague scouts to try and find a landing spot at the next level. This year, Michigan State basketball will have two representatives at the event who will use it as a platform to keep playing basketball professionally: Jaxon Kohler and Carson Cooper.
Kohler and Cooper are two interesting names to monitor during these showcases. I think both players have a case to make to NBA teams that they could contribute at the next level, with Kohler's elite shooting as a big, and Cooper's excellent defense and athleticism.
Last year, Jaden Akins used a strong performance at the Portsmouth Invitational to land an opportunity in the Detroit Pistons' organization, specifically with their G-League affiliate, the Motor City Cruise, where he was named a G-League All-Star this season.
