Iowa women's basketball is hosting Western Illinois guard Raegan McCowan for a visit on April 13-14 as they look to strengthen their roster through the transfer portal. McCowan, a two-time All-OVC selection, averaged 17.0 points and 6.4 rebounds last season despite an elbow injury.
As Iowa women's basketball continues to search the transfer portal to fill its roster, the Hawkeyes are reportedly hosting Western Illinois guard Raegan McCowan for a visit on April 13-14. Iowa College Hoops' John Bohnenkamp was first to report the news of McCowan's upcoming visit.
An elbow injury limited McCowan to just 10 games last season with the Leathernecks. The 6-foot native of Lebanon, Mo., averaged 17.0 points on 47.8% shooting, while also collecting 6.4 rebounds per game. McCowan has been a career 33.8% 3-point shooter.
McCowan, a two-time, first-team All-Ohio Valley selection, scored more than 1,500 points in two-plus seasons at Western Illinois. The Show-Me State product has averaged 20.4 points and 7.7 rebounds per game in her college career, while shooting 46.5% from the field and 78.6% from the free-throw line.
McCowan actually played against Iowa last year in an 86-69 loss at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Nov. 26, where she posted 16 points on 6-for-14 shooting from the floor, 2-for-6 from 3-point range, and 2-for-3 at the free-throw line, to go along with three rebounds and one assist in 21 minutes.
For Iowa, this is another massive portal opportunity as the program looks to reshape its backcourt following five portal departures. Right now, Iowa's backcourt features only Chit-Chat Wright, Taylor Stremlow, and Journey Houston.
