“We were not good situationally… that’s what it comes down to."
Those were the words muttered by Dodgers manager Dave Roberts following the loss on Tuesday against the Miami Marlins. Fast forward to Wednesday and it was more of the same.
Dodgers hitters were 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base in the 3-2 series loss against Miami.
Tyler Glasnow took the mound for Los Angeles and held his own on the mound in the eventual loss.
Glasnow made quick work of Marlins hitters, stacking up strikeouts as fast as they were produced and, at one point, struck out six consecutive hitters.
He's acheived that four seperate times in his career.
Glasnow was able to navigate throughout the traffic he induced. The two earned runs that he had given up were all solo home runs.
It wasn't until the sixth inning where Glasnow's command would begin to turn left. After issuing his sixth walk of the game (ties a career high) Glasnow was unable to finish off the frame.
Still, a dominant outing nonetheless for the right-hander as he went 5 2/3 innings striking out nine and giving up two earned runs.
On the offensive, it played out exactly as it did last time out. But Los Angeles was beginning to brew a comeback in the bottom of the ninth.
The Dodgers found themselves in a one-out, bases-loaded situation as the Marlins intentionally walked Shohei Ohtani to face Freddie Freeman.
With Freeman up, he grounded out to Xavier Edwards, who then tagged Ohtani -- who was out of the baseline -- and tagged first base to end the ballgame.
The final score of the series was 3-2 in favor of the Miami Marlins.

A weird circumstance to end the game, but it sums up the type of luck and situational hitting the Dodgers have been in the last three games.

They have an off day on Thursday before beginning another series of road games.
