Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow explained what he felt before exiting the Dodgersā series finale against the Houston Astros.
Glasnow allowed a leadoff homer in his outing Wednesday, but bounced back by recording his 1,000th and 1,001st strikeout and finishing the inning without any further damage. Before the second inning started, though, he called the trainer out after a warm-up pitch and left the game. The Dodgers revealed he felt some pain in his lower back shortly after.
The Athleticās Fabian Ardaya reported Glasnow felt his back give out, and the issue didnāt get better after the next pitch he threw.
Glasnow has dealt with back injuries throughout his three seasons with the Dodgers, as he spent some time on the injured list in 2024 with a back issue and had to skip a start towards the latter end of last season.
The Dodgers havenāt announced whether or not Glasnow will need to head to the injured list, but Manager Dave Roberts doesnāt expect that to be the case.
The right-hander has struggled to stay healthy altogether during his tenure in , making just 46 regular season starts since the Dodgers signed him ahead of the 2024 season.

Glasnow has been one of the Dodgersā best pitchers this season, which is saying something considering the quality in the rotation so far.
He has a 2.72 ERA through seven starts this season, and leads the team with 49 strikeouts. His best start of the season came against the San Francisco Giants on April 23, where he pitched eight innings and only allowed one hit while striking out nine batters.
The Dodgers have answers if their starter is to miss some time, the best option of which is reinstating Blake Snell from the injured list.
Snell began the year on the injured list due to fatigue in his shoulder, but should be on his way back after making three rehab starts between Single-A and Triple-A.
The southpaw has thrown eight innings during those three appearances, allowing just three runs and striking out 10 batters. His most recent appearance came on Sunday with Triple-A Oklahoma City, and could be on the way back soon if all goes well.
Robertsāonce againāsaid he doesnāt expect Glasnow to land on the injured list, though, so the Dodgers may have to find someone else to replace in their rotation.
