After Wednesdayâs game, manager Dave Roberts downplayed the injury.
âI think that, given itâs something thatâs recurring, and then kind of looking at the history, it hasnât been an IL situation. Itâs been more of, we push him back a couple days, two, three days,â Roberts said.
âI donât expect it to be an IL situation. I donât think he does either, and weâll go from there.â
On Friday, before the Dodgersâ game against the Braves, Roberts said that the MRI showed ânothing really significantâ and the team is in a âholding patternâ to see how things go over the coming days.
The Dodgers will activate Blake Snell on Saturday, giving the team another starter to potentially skip Glasnowâs next start and give him more time to recover.
Additionally, the Dodgers have Paul Gervase, another tall right-hander, on the taxi squad for the homestand.
As a taxi-squad player, Gervase is not officially on the active roster, but he is available if the team makes an impromptu move.
If another injury arises or the Dodgers put Glasnow on the IL, Gervase will indeed get activated, but until then, he will be floating with the team.
With regards to Glasnowâs back issue, it is not the first time that he has dealt with it. He missed time in the past due to a similar kind of problem.
âIt kind of just gives out. Iâve gotten it since high school. Being tall, I guess. I get it a couple times a year,â Glasnow said.
âJust a warm-up pitch and it gave out. I tried to throw another one and it just was like too hard to bend over. But itâs not too serious. Iâve had this a few times. Just one of those things where itâs thrown out. Once it feels better, it feels better. It shouldnât be too long.â
The Dodgers, until Glasnow either makes progress or does not, will be forced to wait and see how he feels in the coming days.
