Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow has been on the injured list since tweaking his back during his last start, though signs indicate that he could return soon.
Glasnow has started playing catch over the last couple of days, and the team eventually wants him to throw off the mound by then, by which time he could be inserted into the starting rotation.
However, Dave Roberts did not provide a clear idea of when that would happen, instead declaring that Glasnow will surely not be back by the time his 15-Day IL stint expires.
The right-hander’s time on the mend expires on May 23rd, next week, though he has seemingly lacked substantial progress.
Tyler Glasnow is not expected to return by the end of his current 15-day injured list stint.

Instead, Glasnow is looking at a return either at the end of May or perhaps even in early June. Dave Roberts said that the team is taking it easy on Glasnow.
Blake Snell has already stepped into the spot a bit earlier than expected by returning to the Dodgers immediately upon the injury happening, rather than making a final rehabilitation appearance.
Snell had a scuffled outing on Saturday, but he looked fine in terms of his delivery, just lacking the last bit of sharpness and bite on his closing pitches.
In fact, Glasnow is helping Emmet Sheehan, Roki Sasaki, and Justin Wrobleski stay up in the rotation together for another extended stretch.
With only 40 games or so in the season thus far, the Dodgers get the luxury of an extended look at their promising young pitchers, who each have their own quirks to battle.
Glasnow was one of the better pitchers in the National League before the injury, posting a great 2.72 ERA in 39.2 innings, with his curveball serving as a change of pace to his two fastballs.
There was a chance that Glasnow would be a dark-horse Cy Young candidate if he stayed upright all year, but with such a crowded field rounding out and him set to miss time, his odds are very long and would require him to pitch the best he has ever.

Still, he has all the makings of an elite No. 2 pitcher in a rotation or a possible ace for some teams in the big leagues, but Glasnow ranks as arguably the fourth-best arm out of the bunch — a true luxury for the Dodgers that they will want to protect.
