Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton opened up about the "miserable" symptoms he has been experiencing as a result of contracting shingles.
Haliburton, 26, said he's lost part of his eyebrow and gained significant weight while recovering from the illness during a media availability at the Pacers facility on Monday, April 13, roughly 10 months after the NBA star tore his right achilles in the NBA Finals.
The Pacers point guard was gearing up for a return to the court after last year's injury when the Pacers said he was diagnosed with the shingles in February, setting back his recovery significantly.

Now, Haliburton has said he's still having "bad days" while dealing with the symptoms. "This has sucked," Haliburton told reporters, including James Boyd of The Athletic. "My dad had it during the Finals, on his stomach, and a lot of people get it there, but mine's on my face."
Haliburton said his eye was "basically closed shut" in the first two weeks of having the rash. "It was all over my face," said Haliburton. "They told me I'd be really itchy, but I wasn't itchy for the first two weeks, I just had a bad rash. Once the rash went away, the itching came, and it's been miserable."
Noting that he's been seen wearing glasses while supporting the Pacers this season from the bench, Haliburton told media members the "only reason" is "just to not touch my face."
Haliburton said he "lost part of my eyebrow" and that his eye is "always swollen from itching it."
"I have good days and bad days, but for the most part, it’s bad days. So, it has not been any fun. I'm still honestly dealing with it," he admitted.
The NBA star revealed that he's been "taking unbelievable amounts of medication to try to get rid of it," but said nothing has worked yet. "It's obviously caused me to gain weight and look a little bigger, and so that's been a topic of conversation through social media and stuff, but what can you do?"

Haliburton also said he's been "having nerve pain now for two months" and hopes it'll "go away soon, but there's no way to really know."
Haliburton had already gained 30 lbs. during his recovery from his torn Achilles when he was diagnosed with shingles. “I’ve been drowning my sorrows in cookies and ice cream and stuff," he joked on the Jan. 27 episode of the Mind the Game podcast.
On Feb. 22, Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle announced Haliburton's shingles diagnosis. "It's a very painful thing,” Carlisle said at the time, telling reporters his point guard "will make a full recovery."
