After a whole lot of showmanship and speculation, it appears that a big British heavyweight showdown between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua could soon be on the horizon, as Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn tells told iFL TV, via Sky Sports, that talks have now entered the final stages. All of this comes after Fury publicly called out Joshua in the ring following his latest outing, but Joshua refused to play into the game and instead sort of played his own in front of cameras.
Hearn would later admit they knew of Netflixâs plan to stage an in-ring face off between Fury and Joshua after the fight, but they believed it would be disingenuous to do so because a formal deal had not yet been reach, although he expressed optimism that a deal would come together. Apparently thatâs tracking for a fight later this year between the fighters in the UK.
âWe will have a contract and we havenât signed a contract yet, but we are negotiating the final points in an agreement to come back to the ring in July and (then) fight Tyson Fury,â Hearn told iFL TV. âOnce we sign up for that agreement, it is over to (Turki) for the staging. We (Matchroom) will be promoting for July. I would think that the November fight or whatever it will be, will be promoted by Sela. Myself and AJ, Tyson Fury, weâll have a contract where (Alalshikh) is basically funding the fight. Itâs up to him where it is.â
Negotiations are in the final stages, with Eddie Hearn stating that they are close to finalizing an agreement for a fight later this year.
The fight is anticipated to take place in July, with further details to be confirmed once the contract is signed.
Matchroom, led by Eddie Hearn, will be promoting the fight, while funding will come from Turki Alalshikh.

For now weâll have to see where things go because as with all fight negotiations, things could fall apart at just about any moment, but the amount of money on the table for these two to fight would make it seem more likely than not to come off. One way or another, we should know for certain shortly.
