Jurian Dixon, a transfer guard from UC Irvine, plans to visit Texas as the Longhorns seek to improve their three-point shooting. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining and will also visit Ole Miss shortly.
Three-point shooting is a major remaining need for the Texas Longhorns in the NCAA transfer portal that head coach Sean Miller and his staff are attempting to address by setting up a visit from UC Irvine Anteaters transfer guard Jurian Dixon.
To get Dixon on the Forty Acres next week, his portal recruitment will have to last past a two-day visit with Ole Miss starting on Friday.
The 6’4, 195-pounder has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Out of San Diego (Calif.) St. Augustine in the 2023 recruiting class, Dixon signed with UC Irvine over offers from Mississippi State, Stetson, and UC Davis. Dixon was a consensus three-star prospect ranked as the No. 262 player nationally and the No. 63 small forward, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Dixon redshirted during his first season in Irvine before earning Big West Freshman of the Year honors by starting in 29 of 39 games and averaging 8.8 points and 3.0 rebounds per game with 66 assists and 35 steals. In UC Irvine’s run to the NIT championship game, Dixon scored 16 points twice in the tournament, including in the finals, keyed by a 7-of-8 performance from the free-throw line.
As a redshirt sophomore, Dixon took another step forward in earning All-Big West first team recognition by leading the Anteaters in scoring at 15.9 points per game, shooting 38.5 percent from beyond the arc and 79.5 percent from the free-throw line. Dixon was also efficient as a mid-range shooter at 40.9 percent and took care of the basketball well with an 11.6 percent turnover rate, primarily because he dribbled to look for his own shot with an assist rate of 16.3 percent.
Jurian Dixon is a 6'4, 195-pound guard from San Diego, California, who was a consensus three-star prospect ranked No. 262 nationally.
Texas is looking to address their need for three-point shooting, and Dixon's skills align with their recruitment goals.
In addition to Texas, Jurian Dixon is also visiting Ole Miss and previously received offers from Mississippi State, Stetson, and UC Davis.
