The biggest question facing every WNBA team in training camp
WNBA training camps open with key questions for each team.
UCLA has secured a commitment from four-star tight end Zac Fares for their 2027 recruiting class. Fares, from Arbor View High School in Nevada, chose UCLA over offers from several top programs including Ole Miss and Ohio State.
Bob Chesney and the UCLA Bruins landed a four-star recruit for their recruiting class of 2027. UCLA got a commitment from tight end Zac Fares out of Arbor View High School in Nevada.
Fares chose to stay out west with UCLA over offers from Ole Miss, Ohio State, Alabama and Oregon. 247 Sports has Fares as a three-star recruit, and as the No. 36 tight end in the class. 247 Sports composite has Fares as a four-star, and as the No. 18 tight end.
UCLA needs an influx of talent at tight end, it’s been some time since the Bruins have had a game-changer at the position. Perhaps Fares can become that player once he heads to Westwood next year.
Chesney has attacked tight end since taking over at UCLA. The Bruins added Stevie Amar Jr., Brayden Loftin and Josh Phifer but only time will tell if any of the three tight ends can make a difference this season with UCLA.
As a junior this past season, Fares put up 38 receptions 541 yards and seven touchdowns while playing his high school ball in the Las Vegas area. Andrew Ivins of 247 Sports gave out a scouting report on Fares earlier this month.
“Slips open at the first and second levels with impressive spatial awareness,” Ivins said of Fares. “Sleek pass-catching tight end that fits the archetype of a modern Y.”
We’ll see how new UCLA offensive coordinator Dean Kennedy incorporates the tight end position in the Bruins new-look offense but if Fares can develop into a modern-style tight end, it’ll help UCLA for years to come.
