UCLA softball star Jordan Woolery is on the verge of making history

The UCLA Bruins’ offense is in the middle of an extraordinary season. In the middle of the lineup, UCLA has sluggers Megan Grant and Jordan Woolery, with both players having video game-like numbers in their senior seasons.

Before UCLA takes on Oregon for a Big Ten Conference series this weekend, Grant and Woolery have already combined for 65 home runs. Grant has 34 of those, which sets a new single-season record with plenty of time to spare. As a team, UCLA has hit 163 home runs, which is another single-season record.

Woolery has 102 RBIs so far this season, which is, you guessed it, another single-season school record. Woolery has a chance to make some more history this year, as she’s on pace to become the Division I player ever to record 30+ home runs, 100+ RBIs and post a batting average over .500.

Woolery has already reached the home run and RBI threshold and is currently batting .510 on the season. While it’ll be tough for Woolery to maintain a batting average over .500 as the Bruins face stiffer competition in the postseason, it’s certainly a possibility.

Even if Woolery’s average dips below the .500 mark on the season, Woolery already has one of the most impressive careers in UCLA softball history. Woolery has batted .409 for her career with 74 home runs and 270 RBIs in 229 career games.

Grant’s career numbers are great in their own right, with the Bruins having two all-time performers on their roster at the same time. Grant has batted .372 with 83 homers and 253 RBIs in 229 games with UCLA.

The one thing Grant and Woolery haven’t done as Bruins is win the NCAA championship, with the two hitters having one last chance this spring to become national champions.
