UCLA women's basketball is set for the 2026-2027 season after losing key players post-NCAA championship. The team has successfully recruited three top-25 transfers to bolster their roster.
The UCLA Bruins were always set to see a ton of talent leave their program following their NCAA national championship earlier this month but UCLA has done a good job of replenishing their talent level through the transfer portal.
Cori Close and the Bruins have landed three different top-25 transfers according to CBS Sportsâ rankings, getting No. 4 Addy Brown, No. 23 Elina Aarnisalo and No. 24 Donovyn Hunter. The three key transfers will join a largely new-look Bruins team that lost its top six contributors from this yearâs championship squad.
With the portal action slowing down, letâs take a look at the potential depth chart for next yearâs UCLA squad
Elina Aarnisalo is back for a second stint with the Bruins after one year away at North Carolina. Christina Karamouzi was a part of UCLAâs title team but showed less as a freshman than Aarnisalo did in her first stint with the Bruins. UCLAâs lone incoming freshman, Somto Okafor, joins the Bruins from Spain and itâs still to be seen how college-ready her game is.
Close added a lot of talent in the backcourt, with Donovyn Hunter and Bonnie Deas giving her a couple different playstyles to deploy as needed this year for the Bruins. Deas is an exceptionally good rebounding guard, with both players giving Close and the Bruins strong defense.
The top transfers are Addy Brown, Elina Aarnisalo, and Donovyn Hunter, ranked No. 4, No. 23, and No. 24 respectively.
The new transfers are expected to significantly strengthen UCLA's roster, which lost its top six contributors from the previous championship team.
The potential depth chart includes Elina Aarnisalo, Christina Karamouzi, and Somto Okafor at the point guard position.

Would UCLA choose to use Brown at the three or the four? Brown has a strong all-around game, giving the Bruins some creation ability at the forward position. Lena Bilicâs shooting splits werenât great from her freshman season but the 6â3â Croatian showed real potential in a limited role.
After spending her freshman season in a backup role, Sienna Betts will become a focal point for the UCLA offense in the 2026/2027 season. Bettsâ 6â4â frame is noticeable and sheâll continue to improve on the defensive side of the ball. Gardiner missed last season with an injury but the 6â3â forward is a career 39% three point shooter.
Weâre double-dipping with Betts in the frontcourt but with the chance that Brown takes some minutes at the four, itâll give Betts to work some at the center position. Amanda Muse, the longest tenured Bruin, is also a plus defender for UCLA and is quite familiar with Closeâs objectives on the court.
