UConn men’s basketball expanded on what is already looking like a very impressive non-conference schedule on Wednesday afternoon with two more marquee games. According to reports, the Huskies are set to take on the reigning national champion Michigan at TD Garden in Boston on Nov. 6, 2026, the first Friday of the regular season. The Huskies are also reported to be starting a home-and-home with Ohio State this year, with the first game being in Connecticut and the return game next season in Columbus.
The Huskies and Wolverines of course last met in the title game last month, where Michigan came away with a 67-61 victory to win their second championship in program history. Rumors of a matchup between UConn and Michigan have been rumbling all offseason long, and now we have a date and location for perhaps the highest anticipated game on the college basketball calendar for next season.
Including in Indianapolis, the Huskies and Wolverines have played four times in their history, splitting the series 2-2. UConn’s last win over Michigan came in 2016 during the Battle 4 Atlantis down in the Bahamas. They also won in Storrs in 2009. Next year’s Wolverine squad looks loaded again under Dusty May, returning Elliot Cadeau, Roddy Gayle and Trey McKenney to go along with transfers JP Estrella and Moustapha Thiam, as well as the pending draft decision of Morez Johnson Jr.

As for Ohio State, the Huskies and Buckeyes haven’t faced off since they finished a home-and-home in Columbus in 2016. Overall, they’ve played five times and UConn holds a 3-2 edge. The most notable matchup came at Tropicana Field in 1999 in the Final Four, in which the Huskies won to get to the title game against Duke before eventually cutting down the nets for the first time. Jake Diebler has a solid foundation in Columbus after making the tournament for the first time in four years this past March, led by returners John Mobley and Andre Bynum.
Michigan and Ohio State are now officially apart of the massive non-con slate that Dan Hurley and the staff are building for this November and December, joining home versus Kansas, at Arizona, Illinois in Chicago and Duke in Las Vegas as confirmed games. And it’s a very real possibility there will be at least one or two more Power 4-level game in the fold.
