UFC 327 returns worst-ever Miami gate in modern MMA era — ‘Fans were outpriced’

UFC 327 featured some pretty wild fights last weekend at Kaseya Center in Miami, but fans were not crazy about the ticket prices for “Jiri vs. Ulberg.” After struggling to fill the arena, the promotion returned its worst Miami gate of the modern era and nearly half of what “Suga” Sean O’Malley pulled for UFC 299.

Here’s the breakdown:

The actual UFC 327 gate (reported by UFC) was $6,518,684.

Reactions on social media were mixed. Some commenters suggested “fans were outpriced” while others blamed the shallow fight card for contributing to soft ticket sales. The main event featured Jiri Prochazka vs. Carlos Ulberg for the vacant light heavyweight title, with Paulo Costa vs. Azamat Murzakanov holding down the light heavyweight co-main event.

Next up for the promotion is UFC 328: “Khamzat vs. Strickland” on May 9 in Newark. The last time UFC held a numbered event at “The Rock” in New Jersey it returned $6,501,177 for “Dvalishvili vs. O’Malley 2.” That doesn’t sound like a lot, but ticket prices often vary by location and venue capacity.

Which is why $13M was such a big deal for this “most famous” arena.

Large arena events usually land in the $10M-$15M range, with high end cards getting as high as $20M — though only a select few, like former UFC two-division champion Conor McGregor, can help get to that number. That’s why “Notorious” is not a part of the ticket-less UFC White House card in June.
