Key wins: Dricus du Plessis, Robert Whittaker, Kamaru Usman, Kevin Holland, Gilbert Burns, Li Jingliang, Gerald Meerschaert
Misc.: Chimaevās first title defense, some are predicting, will be a miracle to take place given the heat between him and Strickland at commit-actual-murder-with-a-gun levels. But letās pretend itāll go off without a hitch. Itāll be Chimaevās first defense of the strap after he dominated Dricus du Plessis at UFC 319 to win it. The Chechnyan has seven post-fight bonuses in his nine walks to the cage in the UFC.
Misc.: After he upset Adesanya to win the middleweight title, Strickland lost it in his first attempted defense to Dricus du Plessis. He rebounded with a winĀ over Paula Costa and got a rematch with DDP, but lost another decision. Division: Flyweight
Key wins: Brandon Moreno, Park Hyun-sung, Alex Perez
Misc.: Taira was on the cusp of a title shot once before and dropped aĀ split decision to Brandon Royval. But 2025 was a big bounce-back year when he submitted Park Hyun-sung in August, then knocked out formerĀ champ Brandon Moreno at UFC 323 in December. With Alexandre Pantoja not ready to return for a rematch with Van, Taira was a more-than-deserving challenger choice.
