Yaroslav Amosov showed off some slick moves before and after his win over Joel Alvarez at UFC 328 on Saturday.
The former Bellator welterweight champion put on another suffocating performance, this time with a nasty slam that put Alvarez on the ground before snatching an arm-triangle choke that got the tap just a split second later. The end came at 1:13 in the second round.
As if being one of the top 170-pounders in the world wasn’t enough, Amosov showed he’s also got some serious breakdancing skills as he celebrated his victory on Saturday night.
“Thank you UFC, this is really was a great fight,” Amosov said after his second win in the UFC. “I can move much better. I like wrestling but I am an MMA fighter, I can do striking. I can do grappling. I can do everything. MMA this is the best sport. Never [satisfied with my performance]. I want to be better every time.
“I want to say UFC, give me someone from top 10, maybe makes sense we have a great fight with [Joaquin] Buckley with [Sean] Brady, maybe someone who wins I can fight with them.”
Prior to the finish, Amosov spent the majority of the first round outgrappling Alvarez, who just had no answer outside of trying to resist the takedowns. On the restart in the second, Alvarez did connect with a solid strike but it was ultimately too little, too late.
As soon as Amosov saw an opening, he swooped inside, grabbed Alvarez and lifted him into the air before slamming him back down again. Amosov transitioned to the arm-triangle choke immediately and got the tap a second later as he put Alvarez away.
Now 2-0 in the UFC, Amosov looks like he could become a serious force at welterweight, especially if he can continue to maul his competition on the ground just like he did Alvarez on Saturday.
