Khamzat Chimaev is preparing for a major moment in his career as he heads into UFC 328. The middleweight champion will headline the event with his first title defence against Sean Strickland.
As the favourite for that contest, âBorzâ remains focused on the immediate challenge. However, his ambitions extend beyond the Octagon and into other potential matchups.
While Strickland represents the current target, Chimaev has now revealed interest in facing another outspoken figure. This time, though, the proposed fight would take place under different rules.

Chimaev discussed the idea of fighting Conor McGregor during an appearance on Kyno TV. His comments outlined a willingness to step outside his usual environment.
He said: âWeâd just box. 12 rounds. Maybe, if Zuffa gives the chance to box Conor and Conor wants to accept that, it would be nice.â
âConor is a good boxer, one of the best boxers in the UFC so it would be nice to try. And it would be good money too. He talks better than Sean Strickland, so it would be fun.â
The proposal adds an interesting dynamic given Chimaevâs skill set. His dominance in MMA has largely been built on wrestling and control rather than striking alone.
A boxing match would place him outside his comfort zone. It would also test him against one of the most recognised strikers the promotion has produced.
Despite Dana White previously ruling out crossover bouts in Zuffa Boxing, it would not be a shock if McGregor changes his mind in the future.
Khamzat Chimaev is scheduled to headline UFC 328, where he will defend his middleweight title against Sean Strickland.
Khamzat Chimaev expressed interest in fighting Conor McGregor under different rules, indicating his ambitions extend beyond the UFC.
Chimaev's call out of McGregor suggests potential cross-sport matchups, which could attract significant attention and revenue.
