Jackson McVey secured his first UFC victory by defeating Sedriques Dumas via D'Arce choke submission in Round 1 at UFC Fight Night 274. The fight ended at the 2:14 mark after McVey stunned Dumas with a punch.
The third time was the charm for Jackson McVey.
After two failed attempts, McVey (7-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) picked up his first promotional victory Saturday at UFC Fight Night 274 at Meta APEX in Las Vegas when made quick work of Sedriques Dumas. McVey finished Dumas (10-5 MMA, 3-5 UFC) by D'Arce choke submission at the 2:14 mark of Round 1.
McVey stunned Dumas with a punch and nearly finished him with a ground-and-pound flurry, but ultimately locked in a choke and got the tap instead.
McVey, 27, was finished by Brunno Ferreira by first-round submission in his UFC debut in July. He returned and was submitted in Round 2 by Zach Reese. But Saturday, he was the getting a tap.
Dumas, 30, may have been fighting for his UFC gig Saturday. The controversial middleweight, whose image has been marred by repeated arrests, is now winless in his most recent four outings. All five of his losses have been by stoppage, including four by submission and four in the first round.
