Unai Emery issues Onana injury update after Burnley draw
Unai Emery has issued an injury update on midfielder Amadou Onana, after Aston Villaâs 2-2 draw with Burnley.
Onana was injured in the first leg of the Europa League semi-final against Nottingham Forest, which Villa ended up winning 4-1 on aggregate.
The Belgian has been essential for Villa this season, and Emery said after the draw with Burnley: âThe doctor told us that it would be two or three weeks, which is more or less the final in the Europa League or the final against Liverpool.
âIn case someone canât play in the final or against Man City, we should find solutions.â
Villa have had a very hectic schedule in recent weeks, and Emery hailed the commitment of his players: âSome players were very tired today but the commitment was fantastic. The ambition and mentality to play on Thursday and again here is fantastic. We are not consistent like at the start of the season but the league is 38 matches.
âIt was a fantastic performance. Iâm very happy with how they competed to try and get the three points. Iâm happy how we are competing in two competitions. Itâs not easy to compete in the Premier League but weâre in the top five and thatâs fantastic.
Amadou Onana is expected to be sidelined for two to three weeks due to his injury.
