UNC baseball sweeps Pitt to win final regular season home series

Pitt (28-21, 10-17 ACC) managed just six hits, scoring its lone run on a sixth-inning, bases-loaded walk.

Pitt took the lead first on a third inning solo shot, but the Diamond Heels responded with three runs in their half, taking the lead for good on a Gavin Gallaher sacrifice fly.

North Carolina led 6-2 heading into the seventh inning, then dropped five runs on Panther pitching, capped off by a 2-run blast from Tyler Howe.

Nicholson was UNC's top run producer on Saturday, driving in three runs on two hits, while also scoring a pair of runs himself. Schaffner was automatic in the leadoff spot, reaching base all five times with two hits and three walks, while also scoring three times.

Game 3 – UNC 7, Pitt 3

North Carolina started its scoring party early, thanks to a 2-run Winslow single in the first inning. Pitt tied things up at two apiece in the fourth frame, only for the Diamond Heels to take a sixth-inning lead they never relinquished.

UNC added its seventh and final run in the eighth inning, when first baseman Erik Paulsen singled Owen Hull in from center.

Caden Glauber maintained his perfect record on the mound, moving to 7-0 with 3 1/3 innings of 1-hit ball.
