Timberwolves' Finch suggests flopping after free throw disparity in Game 1.
USC baseball was swept by Nebraska over the weekend, losing all three games in a series. The Trojans' struggles continued, dropping their conference record to 13-8 and falling to fifth place in the Big Ten standings.
Over the weekend, the USC baseball team traveled on the road to Nebraska for a massive three-game series between two of the top teams in the Big Ten. After getting swept by first-place UCLA two weeks prior, it marked another opportunity for the Trojans to prove themselves against one of the best teams in the conference.
Unfortunately, this time around did not go any better for the Trojans. On Friday, USC wasted a stellar outing from ace Mason Edwards, who allowed just two runs in seven innings of work. The Trojansâ bullpen imploded, and USC wound up losing 8-7 on a tenth inning walk-off.
On Saturday and Sunday, the pitching disasters started earlier in the game. USC dropped those contests 12-2 and 16-6, respectively, resulting in the Trojans getting swept for the second time in three weeks. (Although while the team may not have won on the field, they at least did on social media.)
With the sweep, USC fell from third place in the Big Ten standings to fifth, now sitting at 13-8 in conference play. After starting the year 27-3, the Trojans have now gone a brutal 3-8 in their past 11 games.
As the regular season enters its final month, every game will be crucial for USC going forward as the Trojans look to make it back to the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year. This week, they will look to get back on track with a matchup at Cal State Fullerton tomorrow night, followed by a three-game series back at home against Purdue this weekend.
