Over the weekend, the USC baseball team swept Nevada in the final series at Dedeaux Field of the regular season. With the victories, the Trojans improved to 41-12 on the year.
By sweeping Nevada, USC wrapped up its 2026 home slate with a mark of 32-1—the best home record in program history. In addition, the Trojans achieved another notable milestone, as they surpassed 40 victories on the season.
Back in the 1970s under legendary head coach Rod Dedeaux, winning 40 games every year was practically a given for the Trojans. Prior to this season, however, they had not hit the mark since Mike Gilespie’s final NCAA Tournament team in 2005, more than two decades ago.
Given how long it had been for the program, this marks a major accomplishment for head coach Andy Stankiewicz and USC. The Trojans are not quite where they want to be yet, but Stankiewicz appears to have them headed very much in the right direction.
USC will still have a chance to add to its victory total, as there is still plenty of baseball left to be played. The Trojans will wrap up the regular season with a three-game series at Oregon this week, before heading to Omaha for the Big Ten Tournament. They are also in a great position to earn a second consecutive bid to the NCAA Tournament, something that the program had done just once in the 17 seasons prior to Stankiewicz’s arrival.
