USC men's basketball has secured another transfer, landing Isaac Bruns from South Dakota. Bruns, a 6-foot-5 guard, is the seventh transfer addition for the Trojans and previously averaged 20.8 points per game last season.
USC men’s basketball recently picked up yet another transfer portal addition. No, this is not a repeat of yesterday’s story. For the second day in a row, the Trojans got a new commit in the portal.
On Wednesday, it was Lindenwood transfer Jadis Jones committing to USC. On Thursday, the Trojans landed former South Dakota guard Isaac Bruns.
“The 6-foot-5 guard is the seventh addition for the Trojans from the transfer portal and the fifth guard,” Ahmad Akkoui of 247Sports wrote. “Bruns played three seasons with the Coyotes and started 36 of the 85 games he competed in. As a freshman, he averaged 6.3 points in 13.9 minutes per game. He started his sophomore season coming off the bench but stepped into a starting role midway through the year, and he averaged 14.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. He returned as a junior as the starter and averaged 20.8 points and 5.1 rebounds shooting 44.7 percent from the field, 39.2 percent from behind the arc and 84.3 percent from the charity stripe. He played 20 games last season, but a foot injury in conference play cut his season short.
“The North Sioux City, S.D. native was the Gatorade South Dakota boys basketball Player of the Year in 2023, led Dakota Valley to back-to-back class A state championship and he was a three-time class A first-team all-state selection.”
With the addition of Bruns, USC now has 13 scholarship players on its roster for next season. With two more spots still available, it will be interesting to see the approach that Eric Musselman and the Trojans take in filling them.
