USC men's basketball has successfully recruited transfer KJ Lewis from Georgetown, adding to their strong backcourt alongside Rodney Rice. The Trojans aim to replicate Michigan's success with a team featuring key transfers.
The Michigan Wolverines showed that transfers probably should be more of a priority in college recruiting. The Wolverines won the national title, being the only team in the country with a starting five that was made up of transfers. That panned out very well for Michigan. USC and Eric Musselman are hoping to have that same luck this upcoming season.
The Trojans men's basketball team is hitting it hard once again with transfers this offseason. They brought back Rodney Rice, who was a transfer they got last offseason, who was stellar prior to his season-ending injury. Chad Baker Mazraa was the Trojans' most productive guy last season, as in 26 games, he averaged 18.5 points per game. Baker Mazara and the Trojan relationships blew up at the end, but he was successful when on the court.
The Trojans have had no issue finding talent in the transfer portal so far. Eric Musselman is hoping he will strike gold with another talented transfer this upcoming season.
The Trojans have added All-Big East Third Team former Georgetown junior guard KJ Lewis. He posted 14.9 points per game, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.1 steals per game. If the Trojans miss out on Alijah Arenas coming back for another season, at least with Rodney Rice and Lewis, they will have both an experienced and great scoring backcourt.
The Trojans are testing the Michigan Wolverines with the same strategy, with the hope that they can also have luck go their way, with injuries not having a significant impact on next season. If they can stay healthy, USC should be in the thick of things in the Big Ten next season.
