Game 2 of the SEC series between Vanderbilt baseball and Alabama entered a brief delay after an umpire appeared to be knocked out after getting hit in the head by a foul ball.
The umpire, Scott Kennedy, went down after being hit by a foul off the bat of Brennan Holt. He was on the ground for several minutes being tended to by trainers from both teams. He was eventually able to walk off the field with help at Sewell-Thomas Stadium in the May 1 game.

According to NCAA rules, a game can continue with one umpire if there are injuries or illness to other umpires. This game began with four umpires. One of the other umpires in the game, Anthony Perez, replaced Kennedy behind home plate. Perez was initially listed as the second base ump. The game was paused for about 15 minutes while the situation was resolved.
Alabama led, 3-0, in the bottom of the second inning at the time of the injury.
