Vermont Green Football Club, founded in 2022, is a member of the United Soccer League. The team earned its first menâs national championship last year after going undefeated for the season. After hosting exhibition games for two seasons, the club is launching a full womenâs team this summer.
Rhoni Baden, executive director of Vermont Works for Women, expressed excitement about the partnership.
âFor decades, womenâs sports have been driving a global push for pay equity and female empowerment,â Baden said. âWe were thrilled when Vermont Green announced they would be joining the USL W League, and weâre grateful for their partnership and willingness to try something new with 'More Green More Good.'â
Vermont Green cofounder Sam Glickman echoed Badenâs sentiments.
âLaunching our inaugural womenâs team is a meaningful step forward for Vermont Green, and partnering with Vermont Works for Women strengthens that impact,â Glickman said. âTogether, weâre not only growing the game but also advancing gender equity and expanding economic opportunities for women across Vermont. This partnership reflects our shared belief that sport can be a powerful platform for positive change in our communities.â
The "More Green More Good" partners will have tables at games May 23 and June 22 to share more about their programming and services with Vermont Green fans. An on-field presentation of the "More Green More Good" sponsors is scheduled for June 22.
