BLOOMINGTON — Darian DeVries and his Indiana basketball staff landed one of the top big men in the transfer portal cycle thus far Wednesday, when Alabama's Aiden Sherrell intention to transfer to Bloomington, a source confirmed to IndyStar.

Sherrell stands as among the most meaningful new arrivals for DeVries’ Hoosiers. Stepping into a major role as a sophomore last season in Tuscaloosa, Sherrell averaged 11.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game.

The Detroit native, who stretches to 6 foot 11, posted one of the best conference-only block rates in the SEC last season. And he’s a career 33.6% 3-point shooter on 122 attempts over two seasons at Alabama, making him a potentially versatile offensive threat.

Sherrell immediately provides DeVries with potentially elite two-way post presence, as one of the best rebounder-rim protector forwards in this portal cycle. He held interest from programs including Duke, Michigan State and others, making Sherrell’s commitment not just important from a personnel perspective but also meaningful competitively.
