Tim Means, one of the longest-tenured UFC fighters, was arrested on abandonment or abuse of a child in New Mexico.
According to a report by MMA Junkie, Means was released on his own recognizance following his arrest on Friday. Further details have yet to be provided by the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office, as the incident occurred in Tijeras, New Mexico.
The Albuquerque Journal, however, has revealed details of the arrest, indicating that Means' 17-year-old daughter called to report the incident. She stated to the police that it happened during an altercation over house chores.
Means is alleged to have headbutted his daughter during the argument before attacking her throat. He is accused of throwing a vegetable at her face, and after she tried to fight back against the UFC welterweight, he punched her in the head with his fist.
"Let it be known that there was visible hand and red marks on neck, indicating she was strangled," the report states. "There was blood on and in her nose where she was head-butted and several reed marks indicated she was hit in the face and on her cheek."
Means holds a career record of 33-17-1 with a no contest, with 30 of those fights coming inside the Octagon. He owns a record of 15-14 with one no-contest, losing his last fight in October 2024 to Court McGee.
