Victor Wembanyama returned to the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday for their Game 4 win over the Portland Trail Blazers.
The unanimous defensive player of the year missed only one game after entering the NBA's concussion protocol after taking a scary fall in Game 2 of the series.
After struggling in the first half, Wembanyama and the Spurs put together a huge second half and became the only team to win a game by more than 15 points after trailing by at least 15 points at halftime.
While the Frenchman expressed his excitement post-game about the win, he also expressed disapproval of the league's concussion protocol.
"I don't want it to become a distraction. Ask me again at the end of the season... but the way the situation was handled was very disappointing," Wembanyama stated when asked about the league's protocol.
Who knows what more details may come out in the future about what truly happened, but while some may take the comments negatively, it highlights the competitive spirit of the young superstar.
In his short time in the NBA, Wembanyama has spoken about wanting to be on the floor competing for his team.
It is clear that the center had an issue with not being cleared to play in the team's win on Friday, but per protocol, a return in 48 hours is not possible.
Had Wembanyama been cleared for action on Friday, it would have put him in more danger than before. Still, his frustration at not playing highlighted the young prodigy's love for the game, which should be commendable to any basketball fan.
