Vidošić hails Brighton & Hove Albion’s reaction against Manchester City

Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Dario Vidošić was thrilled with his side’s reaction to going behind as The Seagulls claimed a 3-2 victory over Barclays Women’s Super League leaders Manchester City at Broadfield Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Madison Haley netted a brace while Kiko Seike was also on target for the Sussex side in Crawley. 

When speaking to the media after the match, Brighton & Hove Albion boss Vidošić praised his side’s reaction to going a goal down after just five minutes.

“I was probably quite disappointed with the first half, Vidošić said. “We put ourselves under a lot of unnecessary pressure and nearly gifted a couple early goals. It could have been a lot harder than what it was, but credit to the girls, it took us a while, but we did find our feet. I think the big credit goes to everyone for the reaction.”

Brighton & Hove Albion face three of the Barclays Women’s Super League’s top-four in the latest block of matches and Vidošić says that it is an exciting time for the club.

He said “We did speak about this block and we said it was an exciting block. We didn’t want to shy away from it, we’re playing the sort of top half of the table and the league leaders first after an international break and then to make it a little bit more complicated, we get a rearranged fixture and we’ve got an FA Cup semi-final at the weekend as well. I think it’s an exciting time, especially to finish the season and the way that we went before the international break with a big win against Arsenal, it sort of gives us that belief.

“Today, we sort of felt that at 3-1 where we just defended, we invited a lot of pressure, but defended again much, much better. It’s a good start, but we know that the next test is again a very tough test where we’re going back to Manchester to take on the red side. It’s one that we’ll be very positive about and just keep building what we’ve started from the start of the season.”
