The Minnesota Vikings have already bolstered their QB depth chart this offseason.
They've still decided it's worth getting a look at another veteran, just in case.
Kyler Murray was their earlier addition to compete for the starting job with J.J. McCarthy, and they still have the youngster Max Brosmer.
But at this weekend's rookie minicamp, they've brought in a QB who very much isn't a rookie: Cooper Rush.
Rush is the former backup from the Dallas Cowboys who spent the 2025 season in Baltimore, where he began as QB2 behind Lamar Jackson before being overtaken for that role by Tyler Huntley.
Now, he joins Aidan Bourman (South Dakota) as one of two quarterbacks at Vikings minicamp:

The reality for Rush is that he looked rough in 2025, and he's now trying to rebuild his reputation to end up with a QB2 or QB3 job somewhere.
The Vikings may not have the most wide open depth chart, but they're the team that was willing to bring Rush into the building and get a closer look.
Working with mostly rookies may not be the best setting for Rush to show his ability, but there's likely still plenty that Minnesota can learn about him in this setting.
If the Vikings decide they don't need to keep trying with Brosmer, maybe they move on and give Rush a shot instead.
