Boston Bruins head coach Marco Sturm called out some after his players following the team’s Game 1 loss to the Buffalo Sabres.
Sturm felt like the Bruins’ second line of Viktor Arvidsson, Pavel Zacha and Casey Mittlestadt needed to do more. In Game 2, the line stepped up as they combined for five points, as Arvidsson scored twice and Sturm was pleased with how the line played in Game 2.
“I called those guys out for a reason, and they just needed a poke,” Sturm said after the game on Tuesday. “That’s all. And knowing Arvi very well, he’s a guy who takes it very seriously, who takes it to the heart, too.
“I (knew) he was going to have a good night. They played to our identity, let’s put it that way. That was Bruins hockey right from the start to finish.”
Arviddson knew he and his linemates had to be more aggressive and chip in offensively, which they did.

“I think we skated harder and battled a little bit harder,” Arvidsson said. “I think we came out with that mindset and had a pretty good game.”
The Bruins ended up beating the Sabres 4-2 to even up the series 1-1, as Boston has stolen home ice away from Buffalo.
Game 3 is set for Thursday at TD Garden at 7 p.m. ET.
