The latest MIAA Power Rankings were released on Friday and the Martha's Vineyard girls tennis team showed why they sit at the top of Division 3.
The Vineyarders (11-0) won their 11th straight with a 4-1 win over Nauset (5-7) to remain unbeaten.
Laina Dubin defeated Anjali O’Brien 6-2, 6-0 in first singles for Martha's Vineyard. Charlotte Marshard beat Samantha Gomez 6-3, 6-2 in second singles. Leah Thomson and Zoe Treitman won second doubles 6-2, 6-0 over Haley Jackson and Callie Murphy, while Tessa Schultz and Maple Martone MV defeated Danielle Chianciola and Olivia Vining 6-1,6-2 in second doubles.
Sophia Votteles defeated Bella Schilling 0-6, 6-3, 1-0(9) in third singles for Nauset.
In other high school action:
Bourne 5, Mashpee 0: The Canalmen (8-5) swept the season series with the Falcons (4-9).
Ainsley Hopwood beat Esme Milde 6-2, 6-0 in first singles, Zoe Noonan defeated Hayden Shvonski 6-0, 6-1 in second singles, and Ella Swierkowski won third singles 6-1, 6-1 over Lily Lewis.
Sydney Key and Tyra Orr defeated Chloe Fischer and Hamna Shakeel 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 in first doubles, and Arianna Mccarthy and Sofia O'Neil beat Emaa Duvall and Greenley Davis 6-0, 6-0 in second doubles.
Monomoy 4, Sandwich 1: The Sharks (8-6) snapped a three-game slide as they beat the Blue Knights (1-11).
Roman Pavluchenko defeated Nathaniel Delman 8-1 in first singles, while Ethan Seufert beat Luke Caleshu 8-1 in second singles. Patrick McMahon and Tom Hereford defeated Bradley Moesman and Nathan Leblanc 8-3 in first doubles, and John Sene and Khush Patel beat Owen Kravitz and Joseph Penna 8-3 in second doubles.
Kirby Mock defeated Romani Thomas in third singles 8-2 for Sandwich.
Cape Cod Academy 5, St. John Paul II 0: The Seahawks (9-0) maintained their undefeated start as they swept the Lions (5-7).
Ben Catalano defeated Zach Jones 6-1, 6-0 in first singles, Garrett Wilson beat Will Sutton 6-0, 6-0 in second singles, and Connor Hallwon third singles 6-1, 6-1 over Cullen Lynch.
Rowan Lewison and Austin Newhall defeated Ben Kowal and Michael Maynard 6-1, 6-2 in first doubles, while Theo Draper and Silas Zhang beat Thomas Fagan and Daniel Cheglakova 6-1, 6-4 in second doubles.
Falmouth 19, Dennis-Yarmouth 4: The Clippers (4-9) have won back-to-back games for the first time this season.
Mickayla Codd (two hits, three runs, three RBIs), Ellie Bennett- one hit, one run, one RBI), Tenley Briggs (one hit, two runs) and McIntyre Bradley (one hit, two runs, one RBI) led the hitting for Falmouth.
D-Y (2-9) has dropped nine in a row after a 2-0 start to the season.
Monomoy 12, Sturgis 0: The Sharks (6-8) have won back-to-back home games for the first time this season as they scored nine runs in the third inning.
Rhyden Welsh, Cam Thacher, Asiel Rodriguez, Ben Hager and Lincoln Sanford each drew one walk and scored one run for Monomoy. Luke Barbella (one double, three runs) and Tyler Layton (one single, one run. Ethan Carrey and Rodriguez led the team with two bases on balls each.
Tyler Ayer stepped on the bump first for Monomoy and allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings. He struck out four and walked one. Colin Cote threw two innings of zero-run ball in relief, allowed zero hits, struck out four and walked one.
Sturgis (3-6) lost back-to-back games for the third time this season.
Seekonk 6, Bourne 0: The Canalmen (3-10) recorded two hits in a home loss. James Moran-Rose and Polzcwartek had one hit each. Tucker Muldoon went five innings and allowed three earned runs.
Plymouth North 13, Barnstable 7: The Red Hawks (7-7) lost their first road game since April 14. Emelie Jonsson, Avery Croteau and Caroline Curley scored two goals each, and Caroline Meins added one goal. Morgan Mueller had 18 saves in net and Kera Clifford played well in the midfield.
Hull 14, Dennis-Yarmouth 9: The Dolphins (6-6) lost to Hull for the second time this spring. Mya Cerqueira recorded 16 saves and notched her 200th career save. Jenna Richard scored six times, while Mia Medeiros, Keira Butler and Carolyn O'Keefe (one assist) each scored a goal.
Bourne/Mashpee 16, Apponequet 4: The Canalmen (12-0) continue their unbeaten start to the season with their 12th straight victory.
Charlie Seitz (two goals, three assists), Jack Balfour (five goals, one assists), Brady Banks (three goals, five assists), Ty Hawkes (one goal, two assists), Sean Kelly (two goals, one assist), Brody Haden (one goal), Max Ridl (one assist), Mike Valois (one goal, two assists), Rory Glen (two assists), James Crowell (one assist) and Henry Bonzagni (one goal) led the offense. Nolan Scofield had nine saves.
Lou Tozzi Freshman/Sophomore Invitational: The Upper Cape/Mashpee co-op team participated in the Lou Tozzi Freshman/Sophomore Invitational.
Upper Cape sophomore Nathan Headley ran a 25.69 in the 200m.
Mashpee sophomore Christian Alfonso had a personal record of 5:07 in the mile.
Mashpee freshman Grey Auger recorded a personal record in the mile with a time of 4:47 and finished 10th overall.
