Everton thought their bright start had paid off in the 27th minute when Iliman Ndiaye guided a cross into the net. However, it was ruled offside.
Two minutes later, Liverpool broke the deadlock, with Mohamed Salah side-footing Cody Gakpo’s pass into the net.
The Egyptian has now netted nine goals in the Merseyside derby, the joint-highest in the fixture, alongside Steven Gerrard.
Liverpool pushed to double their advantage before the break with efforts from Gakpo and Alexander Isak, but Pickford was equal to the task on both occasions.
Liverpool won the Merseyside Derby against Everton with a final score of 2-1.
