The NCAA transfer portal opened on Tuesday, meaning players across the country who announced they planned to enter could make it official. The Virginia Tech Hokies saw two more players enter the transfer portal: freshman center Antonio Dorn and freshman guard Brett Freeman.
Dorn and Freeman are the fifth and sixth players from Virginia Tech’s 2025-26 roster to enter the portal, following Neoklis Avdalas, Jaden Schutt, Christian Gurdak and Izaiah Pasha. Five of the six players who entered spent only one season in Blacksburg.
The 7-foot-0 Dorn came to Virginia Tech from Germany. He missed a total of seven games with a back injury and another due to an eligibility issue. He appeared in 24 games, made five starts, averaged 2.6 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. Dorn has two years of eligibility remaining.
Freeman, a 6-foot-5, 180-pound guard from Charlotte, North Carolina, redshirted this past season and did not play. He has four years remaining at his next stop. Freeman was a late addition to Tech’s 2025 class after a breakout senior season.
In some good news, Virginia Tech did announce the return of All-ACC honorable mention forward Amani Hansberry for next season.
