Von Miller revealed he declined a contract offer from the Seahawks last year, opting instead to sign with the Commanders. His decision was influenced by his belief in quarterback Jayden Daniels over Sam Darnold.
The Super Bowl LX champion Seattle Seahawks boasted the best defense in the NFL last season, but imagine if you will a scenario where they could have been better. This scenario includes future Hall of Famer Von Miller wearing the neon and navy of Seattle.
Recently, the MVP of Super Bowl 50 was hanging with YouTube stream N3on and revealed to him (and the world) he had received a contract offer from the Seahawks... and declined. Miller said he received two offers last summer, one from the Commanders and one from Seattle. In the end, he chose to sign with the "other" Washington due to his faith in quarterback Jayden Daniels over Sam Darnold. Miller said it wasn't about not believing in Darnold, but mainly about the pure raw talent and potential Daniels represented.
Winding back the clock to July of 2025, the thought process at the time makes sense. Jayden Daniels had taken the league by storm, winning the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year award and guiding the Commanders to the NFC Championship Game. Meanwhile, Sam Darnold had infamously flamed out of the playoffs with Minnesota, and was facing intense scrutiny that did not subside until he personally hoisted the Lombardi.
However, I think it's safe to say Von Miller has spent plenty of time thinking about the road not traveled. Seattle of course went on to have one of the most dominant Super Bowl runs in recent history (second only to the 2013 Legion of Boom Seahawks) while the Commanders flamed out with a 5-12 injury-riddled season. Ironically, it was against the Seahawks where Jayden Daniels suffered a near-season-ending injury.
What's crazy to think about is how Seattle could have easily pulled off having Von Miller. When looking at transaction dates, the Seahawks had already signed in March of 2025. Miller didn't sign with the Commanders until late July. And even at age 37, Miller had plenty left in the tank as he recorded nine sacks for Washington to lead the team.

But in the NFL, no doors ever truly close. Seattle is in need of edge rush help, as they did not draft anyone to fill that position. Perhaps both sides would be interested in a bit of a do-over this summer.
