The back-to-back WIAA Division 1 team state champions haven't missed a beat in their pursuit of a third straight team state title. Arrowhead had a record-setting conclusion at the Classic 8 Conference relay meet April 28. Payton Eicher not only was a leg on both the 4x100 and 4x200-meter relay winning teams, she became the first athlete in conference girls track history to leap 20 feet or more in the long jump competition a few days later at the Brookfield Invite. Along with Eicher, both Avery Bott and Giselle Huggett helped the Warhawks tie the second-fastest time in state history in the 4x200 (1:38.55) and the fourth-fastest time in the 4x100 (:46.61) with Eicher.
Twelve up, 12 down for the Germantown baseball program. The Greater Metro Conference leaders had a perfect month of April with a 12-0 mark to start the season. In five of those contests the Warhawks plated at least 10 runs in those victories, including 18 in an 18-3 victory over Milwaukee King on April 24. The Germantown offense has been sparked by senior Jon Murkowski and his .486 batting average and his .620 on-base percentage. Add in the 2.22 team ERA and 85 total strikeouts from the Warhawks pitching staff and Germantown has the look of a title contender coming into May.
The Lightning enters the month of May as a top-five team in the Division 2 rankings and for good reason. LCL had some stellar finishes as a unit in April, winning the inaugural Midwest Classic Conference meet by 14 strokes. The Lightning also set a program record by winning the 18-team Joe Bird Memorial Invitational with a score of 306. In the 54-team Washington County Invite, the Lightning finished in 14th place, ahead of 27 other Division 1 programs at the event. Junior golfer Ben Leach and freshman Max Neumann have the Lightning looking the part of a state title contender in D2. The duo finished in the top four individual finishers in both the Bomber Invite (with a runner-up team finish) on April 27 and at the Bird Memorial Invitational.
The four-time defending WIAA Division 1 girls soccer champions have lost a supreme amount of talent of recent years, but the Warriors keep on trucking against elite competition. Muskego finished April with a 4-0-3 mark, picking up victories over the likes of 2025 D2 state runner-up Pewaukee (1-0), 2025 D3 state champion Catholic Memorial (5-0) and perennial powerhouse Whitefish Bay to cap the month April 30 in another 1-0 victory. Through its first six matches of the season, the Warriors have allowed just three goals and those came in a 2-2 draw with four-time state champion Oregon on April 25 and a 1-1 draw with Madison West, the team they defeated last spring in the D1 state title match.
The 2025 WIAA Division 1 state semifinalists have looked every bit the part of a No.1-ranked team this season. Similarly to fellow nominee Germantown, the Chargers went a flawless 12-0 in the month of April, allowing just 14 runs in those 12 contests. During nine of those victories, Hamilton scored at least 10 runs and in the three wins it didn't, it still held its three opponents to just one run in a 4-1 victory over Sun Prairie East on April 20. Not only has all-state pitcher Bitsy Palicka struck out 109 hitters in just 11 starts this season, she also has four home runs and 25 runs batted in at the plate. The Chargers almost have as many home runs (13) as an offensive unit as total runs allowed on defense so far this season.
