Congratulations to last week's winner, Bloomington South softball player Lindsay Blanton, who received 36.2% of the vote (3,158) to top Owen Valley softballer Addy Applegate (20.4%) and South baseball's Xavier Hemingway (15.2%).

Athlete of the Week
Went 5-for-8 with six RBIs, three stolen bases, a double and three runs scored as the Panthers swept White River Valley and Terre Haute South. Barrett doubled and scored the tying run as South rallied with three in the seventh to beat THS, 4-2.
Senior went 3-1 in the circle while picking up her 700th career strikeout. Had to go just two innings in a 15-0 win over Brown County, took a tough loss 4-3 vs. Sullivan and then went five innings with 11 Ks in a 5-0 win over Lawrence North and went all five with 12 Ks in a 10-0 win over Beech Grove at the BG Invitational. At the plate, she went 4-for-11 with two RBIs and three stolen bases.
Senior who just committed to Grace College just broke the school record in the 3,200 with an 11:25.92 for 71st at the Carmel Distance Showcase. It broke her mark from the 2024 state track meet where she posted an 11:28.14.
Showed up big time this week in shot put, winning the Edgewood Invitational with a career best 40-7½ following a 40-6 in a three-team meet. Also ran a 13.01 for third in the 100 and helped the 4x100 relay break the school record again with a 50.15. She had times of 12.90 (100) and 27.05 (200) against BNL and Jennings County.
Had a hand in four wins as the Panthers took the team title at the Edgewood Invitational. Won the 200 in 25.65 not far off her career best, and jumped 17-9 to take long jump. Also ran a leg for the 4x100 relay that went 49.27 and also for the 4x400 relay that won in 4:10.29.
Had a career best discus toss of 189-8 to win the Edgewood Invitational, coming up just nine inches short of the school record. Also won shot put with a 55-6.
Senior was a key member of the distance relays at Martinsville's Koontz Relays this week, where her Distance Medley Relay team came in first and the 4x800 team came in third.
The Cougars' No. 1 doubles team had the team's top finish at the Crawfordsville Athenian Invitational, taking second place. They also pulled out 7-6 (7), 6-3 win against Terre Haute North.
Had the game-winning RBI triple and scored an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning as the Panthers rallied to beat Terre Haute South, 4-2. She was also 4-for-5 with two RBIs in a rout of White River Valley.
Cougars ended the week on a five-match win streak, beating rival South in their first meeting, then going on to beat Terre Haute North (25-16, 25-15, 26-24), sweep Columbus East and avenge a tourney loss to Evansville Memorial, 3-1.
Freshman is having a strong first campaign with the T-Birds. Last week, he went 8-of-11 with three doubles, a triple, four RBIs, five runs scored, drew a walk, was HBP and stole two bases. Pitched two innings, one each against Paoli and Owen Valley, closing out the win over the Patriots.
Started off his week by bringing home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning of a 4-3 win over Terre Haute North. He went on to go 3-for-8 with a home run in each game and six total RBIs in a 14-1, 15-1 sweep at 2A No. 8 Hagerstown.
Gabe Taylor, Killian May, Simon Barnes and Khaliq Akou lowered their school record to 42.17 in the 4x100 relay to win that event at the Edgewood Invitational. Taylor also won the 100 (10.92) and was second in the 200 in a career best 21.78 that's only .16 from Akou's school record.
Sophomore stepped in this year for an injured teammate in the 4x100 relay and has gone toe-to-toe with the best of the best from other schools, broken several PRs in the 110 hurdles, and was a key member of the winning 300 shuttle hurdle team at Martinsville's Koontz Relays.
Junior shortstop helped the Panthers to wins over Terre Haute South, Northview and New Albany, going 8-for-12, with four RBIs, a double, two stolen bases and six runs scored.
